From the Author

I was a “Reluctant Reader” as both a boy and an adult. Reading never caught my attention for very long. So, I decided to write the “Popcorn Kelly Adventures” to appeal to the new generation of “Reluctant Readers” aged 7 to 14.
The first book in the series, “Mis-Adventures of a Boy Named Popcorn,” is only 36 pages long (E-Book version) and 56 pages long (Physical book). It has 6 short action-filled chapters. The story is about a boy and his friends as they go looking for adventure and treasure in their own neighborhood. However, they discover much more than they bargained for.
The second book in the series, “Popcorn at the Movies,” is slightly longer at 62 pages (E-Book version) and has Popcorn making a new friend whose family has been cursed by Vampires. Popcorn and his friends decide to break the curse and have to face an actual age-old menace.
By increasing the length of the books, the children will be reading a little more each time, and will soon realize that books are fun and the length is not as important as the story. The stories I write have values I believe in, Friendship, Perseverance, Overcoming Fears, and Family Unity.
My hope is that your “Reluctant Reader” will have fun, discover adventure and learn to appreciate reading through my stories.

Our Mission

Through the years we have all learned not to judge a person or book by its cover. Today, as an adult, I strive to be guiltless on both counts whether judging a book or a fellow human being.
However, as a boy, I was a very reluctant reader and judged a book not by its cover but rather by its thickness. Too thick and I would not even attempt it, not even read the first sentence. Now I regret having missed all the adventures I could have enjoyed over these many years.
Our personal mission at Copywriters USA is to create a series of books devoted to encouraging children, especially young boys to read. Interviews, focus groups and personal experience have led us to a comprehensive approach to building interest in a central character like “Popcorn Kelly”. We started this series with the creation of the thinnest book we could write and still convey an interesting story. The succeeding books will grow in length to a point and then suddenly drop-off to the thickness of the first book giving the reader a momentary rest. Our books are offered in digital form as well as a printed version.
While visiting our website, popcornkelly.com you will notice a prepared video which is meant to create a visual interest in our central character. We hope that interested children will begin to bond with Popcorn Kelly as he comes to life. Hopefully printed books will never die, but since we are living in the digital age our staff has brought together a group of products that reinforce our stories. The popcorn image itself is meant to remind the young reader that more and more adventures are coming their way.

About the Author

M L Cooper resides in Central Florida with his wife and two old smelly dogs. Do not believe all that you read in the stories he creates. Many of the names have been changed to protect the innocent Ghosts, Monsters, Villains, and Vampires. He tends to daydream a lot; perhaps that is where he derives most of the outlandish tales he regales your children with. Mr. Cooper does, in all sincerity; hope that your reluctant reader will take an interest in reading.
So many adventures await the open mind!
